Birchbox Review-March 2017
March’s Birchbox celebrated Women’s History Month with “hard-working, powerful products for powerful women!” The boxes have been gorgeous lately and this month was my favorite pattern, by far! I know most of you toss out these little boxes, but I’ve found that they fit in my Ikea desk drawers for both my makeup vanity and my office desk. My desks are pretty and organized!
Beauty Protector-Protect & Volume Spray
The first item I received was by Beauty Protector. Birchbox teams up with them exclusively and I’ve received their hair products in the past. Their sprays always smell so good and this Protect & Volume spray was no different. This product is meant to give body and shine all while guarding your hair against heat damage. Three important things for me since I have thin, dull, and frizzy hair that I have to blow dry and straighten regularly. I’m going to be blunt. I was excited but I was a little let down. While the spray gave me mega volume, it also left my hair feeling heavy and crispy. Ugh. Rate: ♥
Benefit Cosmetics-They’re Real! Mascara
The second item gave me hope for redemption! Who can go wrong with Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara? The results were obvious right off the bat. My lashes look like they doubled in length and they stayed lifted ALL DAY. The mascara also didn’t clump or leave that annoying black smudge under my eyes. My only complaint is that my lashes looked pretty skinny. I wish it would have plumped my lashes a little better. I guess we can’t have everything. Rate: ♥♥♥♥
Cargo-Swimmables Water Resistant Bronzer
For number three, I got Cargo brand Swimmables Water Resistant Bronzer. I could have used this a month ago when I went to Jamaica. It was a little hard to put on, which I’m guessing is because it’s waterproof so it took a while to blend. I also didn’t notice it very well–it almost seemed to blend in with my skin tone so maybe I needed a different shade. I can say that even if I rub the bronzer with my fingers, no glittery substances come off on my fingers so that’s pretty cool. Overall, I just wasn’t impressed. Rate: ♥
Dr. Jart+-Dermaclear Micro Water
Number four was Dermaclear Micro Water by Dr. Jart+. Let me start by saying I normally use makeup remover wipes. I hate these suckers. It seems like I waste half of the wipe, I still have to rub to get my eyeliner and mascara off, and I go through them quickly. Micro Water is the way to go. Period. End of Story. I dumped *no joke* four DROPS of this stuff on a cotton ball and it removed all of my makeup in a gentle swipe. I’m officially making the change and purchasing the full size. Rate: ♥♥♥♥♥
JUARA-Coconut Illipe Hand & Nail Balm
And last but not least was Coconut Illipe Hand & Nail Balm by JUARA. I know the tube says Coconut, but I wasn’t expecting it to smell so coconut-y! It smelled like vacation! I was pretty excited to try this since I do my own nails. I typically use hand cream instead of nail balms because it’s more convenient. My hands felt a little greasy after rubbing it in which was disappointing. However, I think the worst part was about an hour after using it, my hands felt exceptionally dry and chalky. Rate: ♥
